GREEN SYNTHESIS OF COPPER SULPHATE NANOPARTICLES USING PAPAYA LEAF EXTRACT AND ITS ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY: AN IN VITRO STUDY
Аннотация
BACKGROUND
In the recent past, bacteria are being able to survive and withstand antibiotics, as the casual use and prescription of antibiotics has incresed. . Antibiotic resistance can make infections more difficult to cure. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria are mostly caused by misuse of antibiotics in medical and agriculture. Therefore, the development of newer antimicrobial agents is necessary to cure infections.
OBJECTIVE
Papaya, or Carica papaya, is a fruit with a lot of bioactive substances with possible antibacterial properties. When compared to modern antibiotics, coper nanoparticles exhibit stronger antibacterial qualities.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Papaya leaf powder that is commercially available in stores (Bixa Botanical) was used for green synthesis of nanoparticles. 0.314 g of Copper Sulphate powder (LABOGENS pvt limited) was added to 60 mL of water to create a diluted copper sulfate solution, which was then shaken in an orbital shaker (AS ONE electric orbital shaker,3-6560-13) with papaya leaf powder to make the master solution. The nanoparticles were subjected to SEM analysis (JSM-IT800, White Lab , Saveetha Dental College)After a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) investigation, the produced nanoparticles were submitted to antimicrobial testing for characterization.Specific strains of S. aureus, S. mutans, and Escherichia coli tested using the agar-well diffusion technique. Results were tabulated.
RESULTS
The novel nanoparticles demonstrated notable antibacterial activity against S. aureus.
CONCLUSION
Due to its abundance of naturally occurring bioactive chemicals and improved efficacy against S Aureus, papaya leaf extract can be utilized to create copper sulphate nanoparticles as opposed to the use of toxic chemicals. They can also be employed as oral administration systems, root canal irrigants or included in local drug delivery systems .
