Objective: A quasi-experimental study was performed to assess the effectiveness of systematic educational intervention (SEI) on knowledge regarding partograph and its uses. Methods: A nonrandomized control group design was adopted to recruit 46 students who were randomly divided into control and experimental groups. The participants were selected by a nonprobability purposive sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection, and the data were analyzed via descriptive and inferential statistics. The major findings of the study revealed that, in the pretest, experiment, and control groups, the nursing students had an average (60%) understanding of the partograph and its uses. In the posttest after the implementation of the SEI experimental group, students scored up to 81.04% whereas control group scored 62.60% of knowledge. The calculated paired t test value for the experimental group was (t(22) = -6.679), and p= 0.000 was less than 0.05. The calculated paired t test values (t (23) = -0.64 and p= 0.529) were greater than 0.05. Hence, a significant difference was found between the pretest and posttest knowledge scores. Conclusion: The study concluded that an SEI on a partograph was effective at increasing student nurses’ proficiency and understanding of the partograph and its uses. Partograph can be a significant tool for reducing maternal mortality in India. The government and policy makers can use SEIs on such significant topics, which may be helpful in reducing maternal mortality rates.
