Resumen

This research aims to provide a nuanced understanding of the socio-religious and political mobility among Dalits in the state of Haryana, India. The study recognizes the historical marginalization of Dalits and explores the contemporary dynamics shaping their social, religious, and political trajectories. The socio-religious aspect of Dalit mobility is examined through an analysis of social integration, access to education, and participation in religious activities. Special attention is given to changes in societal perceptions and practices that influence the social mobility of Dalits within Haryana. The political mobility of Dalits is investigated by examining their representation in political institutions, involvement in decision-making processes, and participation in grassroots political movements. The study delves into the impact of affirmative action policies and reservations on political empowerment within the Dalit community. Methodologically, a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches is employed. Surveys, interviews, and case studies are conducted to gather data, offering a comprehensive and multifaceted view of the experiences and perspectives of Dalits in Haryana. Preliminary findings suggest that while there have been positive changes in certain indicators of socio-religious and political mobility among Dalits in Haryana, challenges persists. Discriminatory practices, economic disparities, and insufficient representation in political structures continue to hinder the full realization of their rights and opportunities. The outcomes of this research can inform policy decisions, advocacy efforts, and community interventions aimed at addressing the existing gaps in socio-religious and political mobility among Dalits in Haryana.

Additionally, it contributes to the broader discourse on social justice and equality in the context of marginalized communities in India.
